LIFTING BEAM AND RUNWAY BEAM TESTING
Why load test your beam?
A beam load test can be required for one of the following reasons:

Following the installation of a new beam

Following substantial alterations or repairs to the beam or its supporting structure

If a beam has been out of service for an extended period of time

Where testing is recommended by the competent person following a thorough examination
At Elephant, we carry out on-site proof load testing of lifting beams and runway beams. Testing involves applying specified loads and measuring the beam’s response, including deflection, against the agreed acceptance criteria.
The test loads, loading positions and measurement requirements are established before testing, taking account of the beam’s intended safe working load and the applicable test specification.
Testing and certification
Following satisfactory testing and examination, the beam is marked with its safe working load (SWL) and a unique identification number. A digital certificate of test and thorough examination is provided.

LIFTING EYE TESTING
At Elephant, we carry out on-site proof load testing of lifting eyes attached to steelwork or installed into concrete, including cast-in sockets and post-installed anchorages.
Testing may be required following installation, alterations or repairs, or where specified by the project engineer or competent person.
Testing involves applying a specified load in the agreed direction and recording the performance of the installed lifting point. The test requirements take account of the lifting eye, its connection and the supporting structure.
A test report is provided detailing the loads applied, results and observations.
